This case study examines the implementation of digital triage in Västmanland’s primary care system to streamline patient access to appropriate healthcare services. The digital triage system directs patients to self-care advice, primary care, or, in urgent cases, emergency services (112). By sorting the queue based on urgency, the tool helps healthcare personnel prioritize critical cases efficiently.

The digital triage is accessible via a web application or a downloadable app, allowing patients to initiate voice or video calls and upload images for assessment. To ensure security and patient privacy, two-factor authentication is required. This system enhances patient guidance while optimizing healthcare workflow.
