TechConnect is a collaborative initiative designed to assess and enhance Human-Tech Skill Complementarity across multiple sectors. The project employs a variety of methodologies, including policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, workshops, surveys, case studies, and the creation of practical guidelines. The consortium is composed of academic institutions, industry partners, and public sector organisations, ensuring a comprehensive approach to the development and dissemination of knowledge.
By involving technology associations, professional groups, and government entities, the project aims to foster cross-sectoral collaboration that will ultimately drive Europe’s competitiveness in the digital age. Representing a diverse geographical spread across Europe, the consortium includes partners from Ireland, Sweden, Spain, and the Netherlands, along with a strong network of hospital partners that will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of the project.

Trinity College Dublin

As Ireland’s highest-ranked university, with a history spanning over 400 years, Trinity College Dublin leads the TechConnect project as the consortium coordinator. Trinity College Dublin will spearhead the development of the model for Work Package 3 (Interventional Case Studies) and contribute significant experience from its humanities and social sciences disciplines to support the project’s objectives.
Mälardalen University (MDU)
Renowned for its applied research in AI and the societal implications of digitalisation, takes the lead in Work Packages 2 and 3, in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). MDU’s research focuses on the complex dynamics of organising and the interaction between humans and technology, providing valuable insights into these interdisciplinary areas.
Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM)
The largest technical university in Spain, will take the lead on developing the Strengthening Model in Work Package 3. UPM has extensive experience in EU-funded research and development projects and will analyse the demands for proficiency in technology and analytics.
Universiteit Utrecht (UU)
Located in the Netherlands, one of Europe’s oldest and largest universities, will support the development of human skills and contribute to shaping policy on skills, drawing on its global educational networks.
BluSpecs (BLU)
A consultancy specialising in digital innovation, will lead Work Packages 4 and 5 on the Stakeholder Toolkit and Dissemination and Communication. BluSpecs brings a wide network, including leading technology developers, policymakers, industry associations, and end-users.
Tallaght University Hospital (TUH)
A leading public hospital in Dublin, is the first case partner. TUH will implement a new Patient Flow Information System in 2024, integrating advanced digital technologies to improve patient care.
University Medical Center Utrecht (RV)
With its Medical Technology & Clinical Physics department, will serve as the second case partner, focusing on medical devices and their integration into healthcare systems, ensuring quality, implementation, and research-driven development.
Hospital Universitario Ramón y Cajal (FIBIRYCIS)
Based in Madrid is one of Spain’s top hospitals and a major research hub, collaborating with multiple universities. It will contribute to case studies on advanced healthcare technologies and their impact on clinical practices.
